Laughter is no enemy to learning

After arriving in the Netherlands the students enjoyed a first night with their host families and rested in preparation of a trip to Amsterdam the following day where we visited the famous Van Gogh museum and took a thrilling interactive ride over the Netherlands at „This is Holland“.

On one night the group ate a delicious five course meal prepared by the Koning Willem I College, a local cooking and hospitality school, famous for its Dutch cuisine. While the cooking students could excelled on their skills, we thoroughly enjoyed local seasonal and sustainable products from The Netherlands.

Picking their guests‘ brains the Dutch hosts entertained with a traditional pub quiz one night, took their hosts to nearby lakes on a very hot day as well as exploring and shopping in the beautiful old city of s-Hertogenbosch and welcomed them with BBQs, game nights and other free time activities in their families, which made the departure back to the home countries after a farewell party with homemade food on the last night just so much harder and tears were shed at the airport and train station. We also said our farewell to the Dutch coordinator who will be dearly missed after many years of Erasmus work at Bleekvliet and wish him the best of luck for his retirement.
